Do you feel like it was JUST Thanksgiving YESTERDAY and here we are with Christmas unwrapped and New Year's on our heels?
I would love to share with you some favorite memories and activities for December and as well as a giveaway.
I am celebrating with Tammy over at 1...2...3... Teach with Me and dots fun designs as she reached 1000 followers in BOTH her stores! Head on over out and check out her FOUR giveaways! I am giving away my All About Nouns in her 1st and 2nd Grade Giveaway.
Gingerbread Fact Families were a hit! The best part was it was a spur of the moment idea that replaced a boring math worksheet from the series. The kids made the connections and GOT IT!
Our PTO sponsors Breakfast with Santa on a Saturday in December complete with Santa, pancake breakfast and baskets to raffle. Did I mention that FIRST GRADE is invited to sing carols at 9:00am? The kids practice during music class and perform on that morning! It is so cute with the final song, All I Want For Christmas is My Two Front Teeth! ADORABLE!
Yikes! Did I say my oldest son turns 13?!?!! I have a teenager. ENOUGH SAID. PS- Have you ever seen a square balloon? Do I REALLY live in a bubble or what?
Grinchmas Day was a huge hit in first grade. The students rotated to 5 classrooms to watch the movie, make Who Pudding, play a Grinchy Game, make Grinch Goo and a Grinch ornament. I had the ornament room and the kids traced a pattern, cut, made the eyes and finally drew on the facial features. We made over 100 Grinch ornaments all before lunch! It was CRAZY fun:)
Our school tradition is walking to the Christmas tree farm and primary grades bring back a tree for the classroom. We started with Santa handprint ornaments and tree ornaments. We later added fingerprint snowman balls to the tree. I love the pine scent in the room:)
And YES, I took off the last day of school before vacation (GASP!) to go on Zach's fourth grade field trip to St. Augustine. It was a beautiful day filled with wonderful memories.
I hope you and your families had a Merry Christmas
filled with sweet memories!
