My One Little Word for 2014
I am taking my One Little Word and EMBRACING it this year. I have come up with several things I can do daily/weekly to foster a HEALTHY lifestyle. These are so much more than goals. New Year's Goals usually fall by wayside by the end of January for most people. We feel that once we fail, that's the end of it.
By taking my One Little Word and making it my THEME for 2014, I have made a list of big and little things I can do! I will not have success everyday of 2014. I know this. As I focus on HEALTH, I am thinking about physical, emotional, financial and spiritual HEALTH.
Baby steps-from drinking more water to parking further away are small changes I can make on a daily basis to conscious choices of eating better and moving more. Certain steps will take discipline from getting up early to read the bible to spending less and saving more. I need to make myself, family and friends a top priority.
For most things noted, I did not list specific numbers such as days to walk, amount of money to save, etc. I know lots of "goal setters" say to be specific, but I believe that this often leads to the failure of resolutions. If I miss a day or even a week, I can jump right back in and not feel the FAILURE. This is a journey and baby steps can get you there just like a sprint, it just might take a little longer.
I do have a personal goal of loosing 80 pounds. I was not going to put a number on it, but I think I needed to see it and I need to be accountable. I am hoping by sharing this we can support each other.
So whether you choose One Little Word or have a New Year's Resolution, I wish you all luck in 2014 and remember ... BABY STEPS!

Thanks for linking up! I like your specific steps towards making your OLW your theme. We have very similar goals!

Great goals! Your steps sound very possible! I like how you are giving yourself grace to not be perfect every day. I am sure that will help you achieve your goals.
ReplyDeleteI also want to spend more time reading the Bible and to save more money. Thanks for the good reminders.
Happy New Year!
